I am from Sydney, Australia and I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in American Studies. My honours thesis, “A Cluster is Born: Sense8 and Other Televisual Safe Spaces,” proposed the concept of the televisual safe space, a space that is created when people of minority and marginalised identities engage with television shows that center their identities and experiences, such as Sense8, One Day at a Time, and Jessica Jones. I have also spent time studying at UCLA and the University of Texas, Austin. During my time in Austin I lived in cooperative houses, which gave me an amazing connection to community and sparked an interest in researching community-building efforts. I also love dogs, the free samples at farmers markets and binge-watching TV shows. I'm very excited to be working with Undocumented Initiatives and to do whatever I can to support our students.
